US Open - Familiar Final

We have heard this story before, Adolfo vs. Facundo in another championship polo match. It’s a story that never gets old because the twelve-year-old rivalry is now a ‘Thing’ we come to expect in high goal polo. The world’s two best players started this in Argentina when Adolfo left Ellerstina and launched his own La Dolfina team.

Between the two of them they have won every Open at Palermo since 2005. The Cambiaso vs. Pieres show has played out more times than the Yankees vs Red Sox baseball playoffs. In the last ten years they have won every US Open except for two.

Sunday will be another familiar final between Valiente and Orchard Hill. As the season’s leading scorer Facundo has already made 100 goals for Orchard Hill and a win by Valiente would give them the Triple Crown. The last time that happened was in 2010 when Adolfo was playing for Crab Orchard.

Head to head Valiente is 3 & 1 against Orchard Hill this season. On Sunday the tremendous talent of these two 10 goal superstars will awe a jam-packed IPC stadium. When the final horn sounds everyone will have been entertained by the best in the game no matter the outcome.
