In a fast paced and action packed CV Whitney final, Valiente’s Adolfo Cambiaso (10) knocked in seven goals to defeat defending champions Orchard Hill.
The first half of the match was too close to call with Valiente leading 6-5 after three chukkers. Valiente turned on the heat in the 5th chukker as Matias Zavaleta (6) scored three goals to put Valiente in the lead 12-8. Facundo Pieres (10) made two penalty shots in the 6th to try and close the gap but the effort came up short as the final bell rang giving Valiente the 14-11 win.
Valiente shot 80% from the field as Zavaleta won Most Valuable Player and Sugar was named Best Playing Pony. The horse was played by Cambiaso and was purchased by J5 from Sugar Erskine. The 26-goal victory for Valiente is their third Whitney title in the last six years.
