Victory at last - Bin Drai

Bin Drai have been knocking on the door of the Dubai Gold Cup series since they began their campaign in January, and for the Dubai Challenge Cup, they came back to defend their 2016 title with a vengence.

In the final yesterday against Habtoor Polo, Bin Drai stormed ahead with a 5-0 goal lead by the end of the second chukka. After this however, 10-goaler Nico Pieres and Habtoor Polo calmly began their comeback, making a tremendous effort in the third chukka to close the gap to just one goal. However, Bin Drai's team work, combined with the efforts of Francisco Elizalde, allowed for Bin Drai to keep their cool and maintain the lead.

Mohammed Al Habtoor's team gave a final threatening flare in the last minute of the game to bring the game to 9-8, leaving room to draw the game on the final whistle. Time however, was not on their side and Bin Drai went away with the win for the second year in a row to close the Dubai Gold Cup series, and the Dubai high goal season.
