Going Up

The new American handicaps are out and four high goal players might be looking for new teams next year. Three of those players were on the Valiente teams this season. Diego Cavanagh has gone from 8 to 9 (8 in Argentina), Matias Zavaleta goes from 6 to 7 (7 in Argentina) and Gringo Colombres also going to 7 (6 in Argentina), with another new 7 goaler being Juan Martin Zubia.

Valiente swept the Triple Crown this year and their success did not go unnoticed by the handicappers. The National Handicap Chairman Stevie Orthwein explained the reason for the changes, “The NHC voted strongly in favor of raising both Cavanaugh and Zavaleta after their outstanding performance this winter in the Florida high goal season.  Winning the Triple Crown is a significant achievement and their handicap raises reflect this achievement."

La Indiana patron Mike Bickford will go from 1 to 2 next year. Several up and coming young players have moved up the handicap ladder as well. Jared Zenni will become 5 goals, Wes Finlayson is going to 4, Agustin Arellano and Santino Magrini have been moved up to 3 goals.
