ARGENTINA WINS FIP WORLD POLO CUP TITLE FOR FIFTH TIME

Argentina won its fifth FIP World Cup title on Sunday, October 29 at the Sydney Polo Club in Richmond, Australia. They defeated the defending champion Chile by a tight 8-7 in an overtime chukker, with a golden goal by Lucio Fernández Ocampo.

The match was extremely even from beginning to end. The Chilean team scored a goal with 30 seconds left until the end of the match, but Argentina tied it, taking the game into overtime.

Lucio Fernández Ocampo was named MVP.

Argentina: Lucio Fernández Ocampo 2 (4 goals), Héctor Guerrero 5, Valentín Novillo Astrada 5 and Tomás Panelo 3 (4 penalties). Total: 15

Chile: José Martínez 2, José Zegers 5 (3 penalties), Andrés Vial 3 (2) and José Pereira 4 (1). Total: 14

Third place in the tournament went to England, who defeated the United States by a tight 6-5 Sunday.
