Las Monjitas beat La Ensenada 12-10 and claimed the XIV Copa Julio Novillo Astrada, presented by Río Uruguay Seguros, the premier tournament of the 2017 HSBC Spring Season at La Aguada Polo Club. The championship match took place on Saturday, October 28 at the Novillo Astrada family’s club in Open Door, Argentina.
Not only has Camilo Bautista’s team been playing the Julio Novillo Astrada Cup since its inception in 2004, but this is also the third time Las Monjitas won this competition. Las Monjitas were the second lineup to claim the tournament for two consecutive years after El Caburé, winners in 2011 and 2012. In addition, Las Monjitas remains the most winning team of the Julio Novillo Astrada Cup.
Juan Martín Zubía was named MVP; the Fair Play Award went to Ernesto Gutierrez.
