La Dolfina Brava and Ellerstina won their matches in round two and qualified to the semifinals of the inaugural Argentine Open Polo Women's ATMA Championship. Ellerstina defeated La Dolfina Cría Fax 14-3; La Dolfina Brava def La Varzea Goose Creek 16-2; and LaDolfina Brava II def Santa María de Lobos 7-6.
The third and final qualifying round of the tournament, which takes place Sunday at the AAP’s Alfredo Lalor Headquarters in Pilar, will determine the other two semifinalists from among these four teams: La Varzea Goose Creek, La Dolfina Brava II, Santa María de Lobos, and La Dolfina Cría Fax.
Sunday’s three matches will take place simultaneously (10:30 a.m. local time): Ellerstina vs. La Varzea Goose Creek, La Dolfina Brava vs. La Dolfina Brava II, and Santa María de Lobos vs. La Dolfina Cría Fax.
In opening day matches Wednesday, Santa María de Lobos defeated La Varzea Goose Creek 8-4, La Dolfina Brava def La Dolfina Cría Fax 14-3, and Ellerstina def La Dolfina Brava II 7-2.
Six teams with female handicaps totaling 23 to 30 are participating in the historic tournament. Among them are the best players from Argentina, Germany, the United States, France and England, including Nina Clarkin, the highest-rated female player in the world (10).
The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, November 28 at Alfredo Lalor Headquarters in Pilar. The final will take place December 2 in Palermo as a prelude to the 124th Argentine Open HSBC Polo Championship final.
